Dreame, the robot vacuum giant, says home humanoids at scale are still years away
Its robot already sorts the laundry. The executive in charge says a robot for every chore at home is still more than two or three years off.

Dreame Technology, the Chinese company that shipped 1.5 million robot vacuums in the first quarter of 2026, is building robots for the rest of the housework, Bloomberg reported on October 30 1. “I want to build a robot that does everything in the household — cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping,” Jianghao Huo, 29, chief technology officer of Dreame’s embodied intelligence business, told Bloomberg 1.
Its Echo S1, shown in Berlin in September, is a one-armed robot on wheels: it takes voice commands, sorts laundry by fabric and color, picks the wash cycle, and loads and unloads the washer 1. A two-armed robot that reaches above table height is expected in the new year, to clean and tidy tabletops and, eventually, operate appliances 1. Dreame gave no price and no launch date 1. Huo said large-scale use of humanoids in homes is “more than two to three years away” 1.
What it means for a family. The chores are arriving one at a time, starting with the most repetitive. Sorting laundry by color is also the first task an AI “thinks through” before acting in Chapter 1 of The Tireless Parent. The harder question in the book comes later: what changes at home when nobody has to ask anymore.
